Does subscribe 2 app use membership/registration setting?

Hey, I’m having issues with spam registrations, so I’m thinking of turning off the membership/registration/subscriber setting, but I still want the email subscriptions from the subscribe2 plugin, so wondering if it will still work if I disable the membership settings.
