Does the pingback setting delay posts?

  • Does the pingback setting delay posting, if the URIs are not the type that support pingback?
    After trying to publish an article a few time it appeared that the server had hung, but after unticking the pingback check box, the response was almost immediate. Is pingback the reason why?

  • yup pingbacks do delay posting procedure. but u will notice that even though the posting procedure hangs, the post is posted with no problems. maybe because the pings are done after posting the data in the database! ??
