Does the Referrer Groups feature work?

I’m trying to use the Referrer Groups feature of W3TC but can’t get it to have any effect.
The built-in example where you can redirect traffic from search engines doesn’t do anything (I set up a 302 redirect but just get my normal homepage when I enter my site from Google). Similarly if I make my own referrer group, no matter what I put in for the referrer list, when I use
curl --referer <site>to request the page, I just get my normal homepage. I’ve tried full strings, substrings, regex’s, escaped text, plain text – none of it has an effect.The user agent grouping works fine, so I wonder if this feature is perhaps just broken right now? Has anyone gotten it to work?
