Thank you for creating this awesome plug-in and sharing it with all of us!

Here’s my question: I host a few podcasts from my website; I want to know if having the Under Construction page enabled will prevent iTunes (and other podcatchers) from accessing my feed.

If I have my Under Construction page Enabled, will my podcasts still be accessible through iTunes? (I know that the episode pages won’t be accessible to visitors of my site, but will the enabled Under Construction plug-in allow the feeds to come through to my subscribers?

Hi, you’re welcome ??

Feeds will remain untouched. But that is actually a bug that we weren’t aware of till this minute ?? They should be disabled like the rest of the site. So, this version – feeds work; next one – feeds won’t work.

Thank you so very much for your prompt reply! And thank you for the clear concise answer to my question.

I’m happy that I helped you discover what you’re calling a bug! I’d like to suggest to you that it isn’t a bug but a highly desirable feature!

Please, please, please don’t disable the feed access. It’s a gift that as I redesign my website that I can go ahead and submit my feed to iTunes. iTunes can take anywhere from a few days to a week to bring a feed into the iTunes store and being able to submit it before my site is finished is awesome because many (as in most) of my listeners listen through iTunes, or some other podcatcher.

Think about it this way, if a site needs a redesign and the Construction plug-in blocks the feed, that’s death for us podcasters (our shows will be ‘unavailable’ and when that happens, many people will unsubscribe).

Perhaps, you’ll make this ability for podcast feeds to still be accessible via RSS (at least) an option we can switch on and off. If it is helpful to know, I use Hugh Lashbrooke’s Seriously Simple Podcasts plug-in and it’s been a dream.

I’m going to go submit my feed now that I know it’s safe and I want to thank you (yes—again!) ?? for your helpful contribution to the awesomeness of websites under construction everywhere.

With great appreciation,

Hi Maxximillian,
At the moment we have functions in the plugin that disable the feed – and obviously fail ?? So the current state really needs to be resolved, one way or the other. The simplest solution would be to add enable/disable feed option but we’re dedicated on keeping the amount of options to a bare minimum.
Also, I do understand your use-case, it’s a valid one. On the other hand, for those who are working on their site’s content having a working feed would mean unfinished pages and non-final URLs will be publically distributed over various services. So for them, “feed off” would be better.

Anyway, nothing was changed in the latest update as we need to figure out how to resolve this properly.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the plugin ??

Update – regardless of everything above please don’t update the latest ver (from today) if the feeds work for you.

Hi WebFactory,
I am very much in the same boat as Maxxximillian – I have RSS feed for the site that affect certain email functions of the website that I need to test going forward,.
I have the very latest version of the plugin that has changed my feed to be whatever the Under Construction page is.
Is there somewhere I can roll my version of the plugin back to what Maximillian has, or a line of code that I can comment out to achieve that result?
Many thanks,
-Sammy

Hi, try using version 1.70. It’s available on the bottom of this page https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/under-construction-page/advanced/
