Does this not defeat the point?

  • You know in wordpress admin you can add a ping list.. to basicaly alert places of new posts

    well i was using post2blog and finding when i posted it would only post to 1 category not 2 and the programmer said in the end that this was because it was posting then pinging the entire list and well it just gives up and you end up only getting 1 post to 1 category

    so he fixed it and now it posts to 2 categories BUT it no longer pings.. hes solution was to basically have it post but not let serverside the wordpress ping

    doesnt this defeat the point.. and really is this a solution??? sounds like well i cant fix it so i will go around it and you will either have to have

    pinging and 1 category

    or

    no pinging and 2 categories

  • Well, that’s the plugin author’s choice I’d say. You’d need to take that up with him probably….

    The solution is to only ping one update service, like Ping-o-Matic. Why would you need to ping anything more than that?

    I’m not even sure I understood the problem…. what’s the number of categories got to do with pinging?

    well the more ping services in there it seems to cause issues with posting to more than 1 category.. so it ends up only doing 1 when you picked to have it post to two categories

    reason is pingomatic doesnt covers all the ping services.. there are many more.

    Would you please post a list of the services which you are pinging?

    Pingomatic covers all the major services. Those that aren’t are so far down the list of importance anything gained, including new readers, is minimal at best.
