    But can you tell me how a little customization (PHP file editing) can enable support for page republish?

    Uh!

    Recently, I have changed post -> page

    $sql = "(SELECT ID, post_date
            FROM $wpdb->pages
            WHERE post_type = 'page'
                  AND post_status = 'publish'
                  AND post_date

    but no response from this change.

    Is this was correct?

    Since the code you tried doesn’t do what you expect, I would say that it isn’t correct.
