Does this plugin use Xenu Link Sleuth?

Does Broken Link Checker use the Xenu Link Sleuth service? I’m getting tons of entries from this in my apache access log. If Broken Link Checker doesn’t use it, does anyone have any idea why Xenu would be checking our site so thoroughly? I’m worried they are taxing our server’s resources.
