I am considering using this over Contact 7 on a small personal website that has a single contact form. That form has an optional attachment field for attaching files to the email sent in.

Not looking to upload the files into directories on the servers or into the cloud or anything. Simply just attach them to the email that comes into us.

Is that an option that comes with this, or does that require buying into the upload addon regardless? I hope it’s not the latter as there are too many other options that offer this simple email default and Ninja Forms looks cool ??

It’s just not a profitable website or anything too important. So no budget this round ??

I also notice it doesn’t support plugins that format the emails WP sends out (ie, WP Better Emails). It bypasses it and sends it as plain text. That’s too bad. I may have to stick with Contact Form 7 for now.

I have answered my own question for the original question. Ninja Forms does *not* support normal file attachments to emails. It only supports “uploading” these attachments to WordPress or external services like Google Drive. And it is hidden behind a $50+ paywall. I get the external services thing, but for basic attachments (which is a basic feature of any email service), I can’t see myself being forced to pay $50 to unlock a single field when I can just say “send attachments to this email address” so the user can do it from any mail program on their own and be done with it.

Also, never did find a fix to prevent it from bypassing WP Better Emails plugin’s template.

And support is non-existent. So I couldn’t find myself paying for anything even if I had a huge site with plenty forms or something. There is no warm fuzzy feeling to transition you from free use to buying something. Must not be profitable enough for the dev. Probably because most users see through this paywall stuff.

I wound up sticking with Contact 7. The only reason I was considering something else was that it was listed via multiple sources as having the highest load on page load times as it loads information on every page of your site despite there being a form or not. But at the end of the day, load times are more than good enough for now and I have…..one simple form with basic fields and an attachment field. I’d say if it ain’t broke….

jh20001 – Hi! Sorry for the long response time and less the exciting time of trying to track this down on your own. We do offer regular support, but the best place to receive support is on our website via our support forms there. We’ll be able to help you far faster and much more effectively there.

If you ever want to give this another go, you can attach files to an email without needing to purchase anything. It’s a feature of our core, free plugin and instructions on how to do so can be found in our email documentation.

We don’t actively strip formatting from emails down to plain text. In fact, there’s a rich text editor in the email action that can be used to format the email as you like. It sounds like there may be some conflict between formatting that’s being applied through your email action with additional formatting being applied via the email template plugin you’re using. Hard to say without additional troubleshooting.

All that said, Contact Form 7 is a really neat plugin and if it works for you, awesome. If you do give Ninja Forms another try down the road and hit any snags, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in our official support channel. We’re happy to help. Apologies again for not being more attentive here on .org.
