    Hi,
I am new to WordPress and working through my first website design.
I have done introductory training which recommends backing up database,wp-content, htaccess and wp-config files.

I have installed your plug-in as it has great reviews and good support. However, I am not sure from your documentation if it also backs up the htaccess and wp-config files also recommended in my training.

Many thanks for your time answering this query!

    Hi Eleanor,

You’re quite right – a complete backup should include everything in the wp-content folder, and your wp-config.php and .htaccess files from the root folder. UpdraftPlus only backs up the first of these. Usually when restoring a backup, you’d have new/different details for the wp-config.php file, and the .htaccess file is usually re-created dynamically by whatever plugins modified it in the first place. Hence I have not prioritised adding a feature to include those two further files. However, there has been some demand, so I am working on an add-on to bring in those options. Watch this space!

Sorry – if you are following this via email, the previous post was missing the word “not” in an important place!

Thanks for such a speedy reply!

Will eagerly await the add-on but in the meantime, test drive backing up my website in its development phase with the existing version of your plug-in.
