Does what it says with no bloat…and great support!!

I should leave more reviews. As a web designer I’ve used a lot of them, some great, others with issues, and some completely unusable. I just don’t have that much time these days. However, this plugin and its support crew really deserve the time to give them some kudos here.

I needed a plugin that would add volume discount pricing to my client’s WooCommerce shop, but all the official extensions that WC support suggested had a ton of extra features we didn’t need and were very expensive. In my search for a plugin that would do the job without adding the bloat of unused features, I found WooCommerce All Discounts by Orion. I thought I’d test the free version before considering a purchase.

When I first installed it I was delighted and immediately went to work adding the volume pricing to our products. Then my client discovered that it was still displaying when he logged out despite the content visibility restrictions we had implemented with WC Memberships and Catalog Visibility extensions. After hours of setting up the pricing on well over 100 products, that broke my bubble big time!! But when I contacted their support team, they went above and beyond to make sure the plugin respected our content restrictions and were able to pull this off in much less time than expected. I’m still in shock because I thought it would be tomorrow morning before I heard from them, but here it is still mid-morning after I submitted my request, and they’ve already gotten it working as intended. Brava!!

Personally, I think that adding their fix to the plugin would make it more widely usable for many shop owners and I hope they will do this in a future update. The other thing I would love to see in a future version is the ability to export the volume pricing settings to csv in the Products Export feature of WooCommerce. Being able to setup the pricing tier(s) for one product to populate the fields and then add the rest to the csv export would save website developers lots of time getting volume pricing set up, especially if they have a lot of products. An Admin interface that allows one to do essentially the same thing would be a dream come true!

I have to say that it seems volume/tiered/bulk pricing would be a widely used feature and I’m very surprised that Woo does not include it in the WooCommerce core. Their support really didn’t even know what to say about how I could do this and took a fair amount of time to come up with their recommendations. I was stunned by this. Surely in the e-commerce universe there are a substantial number of shop owners who need tiered pricing, right?! But now that I have had this experience with Orion, I’m glad they left it to a small company of overseas developers to fill this need, and for a reasonable price ($45 for the paid plugin). They’ve done the job and they’ve done it well! Thank you, Orion!!
