Does WordPress automatically trackback linked sites?

  • I could swear that I’ve seen this behavior, but I cannot find confirmation anywhere in the docs or elsewhere online, nor in the source. I’ve found the pingback code, but I swear that my site has sent trackbacks to sites I’ve linked to. Am I crazy or is this actual behavior?

    No, in the source code. I’ve got somme ideas for extending WordPress’ trackback support, but in order to do that I need to understand how it all works, and I’m having some trouble tracing it all.

    I’ve found the pingback support, but cannot find where/if WordPress does trackbacks for links in the body of the post, which is the behavior I could swear I’ve seen before.

    yes it does (but to be more correct, it pings, it doesnt send a trackback) (both replies above have said that, more or less), what are you looking for? the name of the function?

    start with spawn_pinger @ line 1024 in fucntions.php .. thats where it starts.

    ex‘splain to me doesnt say much.
