Does WP Update on Local Wampserver?

    On a local install on Wampserver,

    In WordPress > Dashboard > Updates

    Should I expect “try again” to find updates? Or does it not work on local install?

    It’s not working, and I can barely any info on whether it should or should not work on local installs. My firewall or security settings might be interfering, so it might not be WordPress or Wampserver at all. Plugins and themes updated. I’ll troubleshoot elsewhere if I can expect it to work.

    Ugh… I caused the problem.

    I have the plugin WP Downgrade | Specific Core Version installed and set to 6.2.

    So the “try again” always matched the current version to available version.

    I want to delete this question because it’s almost embarrassing to post it.

    Anyway, I’ll leave this answer and include the plugin name again, WP Downgrade | Specific Core Version, and the problem again “WordPress update try again not working”. Maybe the search engines will lead future searchers to this solution.
