• I am about to start using WordPress to blog. I have two domain names already, a .net and a .info relevant to my name.

I know it is important to take a top down approach from my unhappy site design experience (have to revisit that, but for now going to focus energies on blog design to revitalise my enthusiasm.

So the first thing I come to is the name for the blog. That is a subject in itself and can obviously be revisited. For now I shall be making it a /blog extention or using my .info domain and shifting what is there over to .net as my “home page”.

I am holding back on purchasing a domain as money is tight, but it strikes me it could be necessary to having a blog that gets visits… How much of a factor is this? I’d like to go for one of the new .me domains but they seem to have a premium attached especially if they are not .me.uk. I do not think I’ll be telling people my blog in conversations – rather more likely to have linkage in emails or on profile.

But what are others experience with this? If I really take to blogging will the outlay for a domain reap worthwhile benefits and are there factors I have missed here?

Of course, I have yet to come up with a name – but that, as they say, is another story.
