Hello. Thank you for this awesome plugin I have been searching and searching and searching for a way to integrate google-my-business into my social media posting routine.

What I have is an Integromat (like Zapier) account that watches my Instagram and when new Post is posted on Instagram it takes that post and copies it to Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Etc.

Unfortunately Integromat does not currently have an integration with Google-My-Business (I am not aware of any integration service that currently does) so I have to date been unable to automate the process. Integromat does however have a integration to word press so when I found your plugin I thought my search was over.

I have sucessfully integrated WordPress into my Integromat process and when a new Instagram post is pikced up, it is successfully posted to my wordpress account.

Unfortunately what I have found is that under these circumstances, the GMB Auto Publish plugin is not automatically posting to my google-my-business account.

Is this a limitation of your plugin? Is there any way around it?

I sincerely appreciate any guidance you can offer.

    Thanks,

    Russ

    Hi Russ,

I can’t comment on everything you said about this Integromat process. I can only comment on how the plugin is supposed to work under normal conditions. If you have successfully authenticated the plugin with your Google account. Selected the account and profile you want to use with the plugin, and chosen the default profiles you want to share with and then either publish a post, click the share now button or schedule a post it should send the desired content to Google My Business. If there’s a specific issue you are experiencing with any of the steps I mentioned please provide where things are going wrong exactly and what you tried to get to this point and any screenshots where applicable.

    Thanks,

Hello, Thank you for your reply.

The plugin does not post to GMB when a post is created in WordPress via the API.

Additionally, manually going into the “API” created post, unchecking the “Do Not Share” box and manually clicking “Share” fails to actually share the post to GMB.

Please see attached google doc file for screen shots.

Thank you again for your time and assistance.

    Hi Russ,

I understand – thanks for the clarification. If the plugin is not sharing a post created by the API this would be a function of WordPress rather than the plugin. I don’t guarantee that the plugin is going to share posts created from an API request. The plugin uses the standard post action hooks to share the post to Google My Business. So if a post created by the API doesn’t trigger this action then that’s just a limitation of WordPress. I don’t know much about the WordPress API but maybe there’s an option when making the request on whether you want regular post actions to apply to the post created by the API – this is something that will need to be done by your Integromat service.

I am sure it’s possible for me to get something working for you but it would be as custom development work as the work wouldn’t form part of the core of the plugin.

    Thanks Russ,

Thanks again for your reply. What’s interesting is that I don’t have this issue with any other plugins i have tested (plugins to auto post to Twitter, Google+, Facebook, etc all post automatically) even when the post was created via the API.

Do you have any ideas on the second part of the issue which is being unable to share the post to GMB even manually after the initial post?

    Thanks again for your time.

    Hi Russ,

After a post has been published the post will be automatically marked as do not share so you don’t end up posting the same post again every-time you update the page. Please go into the post and make sure that do not share is turned off.

Hi.. yes I did read that in your forum before my original post. Yes I am removing the check mark from the do not post box and then clicking the share button. As I mentioned doing so fails to cause the post to be shared to GMB.

@northernbeacheswebsites I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.
