Please make sure you’ve installed the base audio player plugin. Without it, this widget will not work.

I did. I’m using the base player just fine.

The text you described with the [audio:] tag is what the plugin is intended to do. I’m guessing your theme is interfering by not invoking the proper filters or bypassing the hooks that flag the audio player plugin itself to replace the tag with the reference to the player.

What theme do you use and how are you setting up the widget in that theme?

I’m using Constructor and simply putting the audio tag in the text widget on the widget screen.

Are you sure you can insert short-tag in a sidebar widget ???
For me, not. You can only insert text/HTML.
    That’s why it’s not working.

Try to create a post, then insert the code (in HTML view) :
    [audio:https://goldeneaglescoaching.com/wp-content/uploads/Coaches-Corner-05-24-11.mp3]
Then save your post and click on ‘preview’, you should see the player is working.

If it’s a dedicated widget (not a text/HTML simple widget), it can change everything.

You shouldn’t type the tag into a text widget. After installing the widget and the base plugin by Martin Laine, you should have an audioplayer widget on your widgets screen you can drag to the sidebar you want.

I created this widget to address exactly the thing you describe, namely that you can’t simply type the audio tag into the sidebar text. Using the widget should resolve that.

No, it still doesn’t work. Even after adding it properly using the Audio widget (which is probably what I WAS doing but had forgotten).

I’ll try to set up a WP instance with Constructor and see if I can reproduce the issue. What other plugins and widgets are you using?
