• I initially asked why it didn’t actually do Google News, but the prompt reply below shows that activating this feature was in a different place.

  • Why would you say it doesn’t? If you have not found it: There is an option to activate your Google News sitemap on Settings > Reading.

Ah, I see. TBF that’s a section I wouldn’t have thought of looking in – even though it’s in the Plugin Page’s Settings. I think many will assume it should be in the Settings > XML Sitemap settings.

Also, it should probably be set to Plugin as a Source as I only had 10 stories showing up.

Other than that, working great now, thanks.

On suggestion would be to be able to exclude certain categories from it.

Hi @ncaross, thank you for your feedback! You’re right, the news sitemap is not active by default and that might be confusing. I’ll consider having the news sitemap active after first install and activation.

Also, it should probably be set to Plugin as a Source as I only had 10 stories showing up.

This is about the regular xml sitemap, I presume? These stories are a custom post type (meaning: not Posts or Pages) from another plugin? Did the WP core sitemap (wp-sitemap.xml) without the XML Sitemap & Google News plugin activated also only show 10 of them or did this issue arrise after plugin activation?
