Doesn't hold new registrations for approval

I only use it to keep out spam/ check new members before allowing them to take part. There are easier workarounds for hiding parts of the site to logged out users (much can be done with CSS). Thanks for your work.

I use it to keep the spam out. I’m ok with new Pending members viewing pages, (Not private ones) but I don’t want them to be able to log in and interact in the groups or with other members until they have been Approved.

It worked beautifully before and we have been able to re add a previous plugin until a solution is found.

We use it primarilly to check new members before allowing them access to content. Members need to apply to join the site, and their application is carefully reviewed. It’s vital that outside visitors do not have access to most of the site content.

Honestly, I believe 4.2 moved both checkbox options towards the direction of complete prevention of access to the BP/bbPress areas. In 4.1.x and back, they were able to see the BP areas but not interact.

gswaim, would it still fit your needs if there was only one checkbox and the new users couldn’t see anything BP/bbPress except their own profile until approved? The rest of the site like blog/pages/etc would still be fully open to them.

I think that would still fulfill everyone else’s needs too, which are, thus far, primarily spam prevention.

Yes, keep it simple. Protect for spam and activate new users manually. That’s the main thing! I think there are other good options to hide members for logout users.

I agree with Gofunky and switched back to v4.1.3 for the moment. I only use the plugin to prevent spam and to review new members by hand. It’s fine if new users are only able to register and not to put all their trash in groups and other public areas.

It’ll create a separate plugin folder so you don’t necessarily need to backup/delete the current one you have, but you would want to deactivate the current one before activating the new one.

I’m hoping this puts everything back in good standing with the plugin. If we are good, I’ll push out the updated version to www.ads-software.com

Thanks for your update!! We test it 2 minutes ago but it doesn’t protect members from interact before approve by admin.

So a new member activate his email adres en after that he can interact with other buddypress members like sending them private message, add them as friend and send a public message.

So you have to block this so they can do this only after approve by admin.

NO because we want to make it possible so search buddypress profiles and look into the profiles without a registration.

I think when we activate “private network” it will also block website visitors without an account?

The beta isn’t working. Members came online without approve by admin. I think there are still some bugs in your new beta version:

– BuddyPress members can interact with eachother without approve by admin
– New members are visible without approvement by admin

obviously I hope so too, but it’s frustrating because it’s working on my test site, so it’s very hard to debug what’s going on.
