• I really want to like this plugin as I think the UI is slick. I tested it with some small files and it seemed to work OK, but once I uploaded my first full podcast ~35MB, I had tons of problems. More than half the time on Chrome the player wouldn’t load, I’d just get a bunch of little squares. On occasion it would play but then suddenly would stop playing around 2 minutes. I had even worse luck on Firefox and Edge which didn’t work at all.

Also, in the dashboard, I would often get “critical errors” while trying to edit my podcasts, over and over. I ended up having to disable the plugin.

    Hi @mikeeckman!

We are sorry that you are having problems with large files.

Could you please provide us with more information to check if the plugin itself or something else is causing the problem?

    1. What hosting did you use to upload files – Castos or your own server?
    2. Have you tried other podcast plugins, and if so, can you confirm that the same audio files work better there?

I am guessing that the problem was either a bad server response or a poor internet connection.

I have an idea how we could improve it. Our player uses the preload="none" attribute, which means that the audio file is loaded only after users click the play button. Usually, it saves traffic for users and makes the pages load faster. But for large audio files + slow server response + poor internet connection it may take some time to load them after clicking the play button, and I think it’s your case.

So I think we can add settings for preloading audio files and I hope it could fix your problem. What do you think?
