I have tried uninstalling 2x and both times it leaves the author box minus the CSS files displayed. It also generates a SQL error.

“Deletion failed: WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ')' at line 1]DELETE FROM wp_postmeta WHERE post_id IN ( );”

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @rtnetworks,

thanks for reporting the issue. We’ve checked and it seems like you don’t have any guest author but have the setting “Keep plugin data” disabled. We have addressed the issue and the fix will be included in the next update. If you wish to uninstall the plugin, please try enabling that setting (Keep plugin data) —which having no guest authors will keep nothing— and try uninstalling again. No error should be displayed and you should be able to uninstall the plugin.

Unfortunately, I tried that and it doesn’t work. I’ve tried enabled and disable, single and multi author – each selection generates the same SQL error. Additionally, during each install the plugin generates the following when you click on Activate while in the add plugin page: “The plugin does not have a valid header.”

    URL – /wp-admin/plugins.php?_wpnonce=c147eb1bac&action=activate&plugin=molongui-authorship/trunk/molongui-authorship.php

    Hi @rtnetworks,

that error message usually appears when having an outdated cache content. So first thing you should do after install/update is to clear all your caches.

I’d suggest you to clear all your caches and then try again uninstalling the plugin following the steps mentioned above:

    1) Clear all your caches, including hosting’s and CDN’s if present.
    2) Go to: Molongui > Authorship Settings > Main
    3) Activate the setting “Keep Plugin Data”
    4) Save settings
    5) Go to the Plugins page, deactivate the plugin and uninstall it.

If you follow the steps above, that SQL error you reported won’t display, for sure, as involved code won’t be never run.

As I mentioned, I’ve already done that. Just for giggles, I repeated again following your exact steps. Same result. Fortunately, it’s only a development machine and I can restore from the DB. However, I won’t be using your plugin.

So you can work on fix on your end, I am running the Customizr theme and the symptons are:

Install plugin, then click activate – Plugin doesn’t have a valid header
Follow your steps verbatim, and it generates the following on deletion.

    Deletion failed: WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ')' at line 1]DELETE FROM wp_postmeta WHERE post_id IN ( );WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ')' at line 1]DELETE FROM wp_posts WHERE ID IN ( );{“success”:true,”data”:{“delete”:”plugin”,”slug”:”molongui-authorship”,”plugin”:”molongui-authorship\/molongui-authorship.php”,”pluginName”:”Molongui Authorship”}}
