I installed your plugin, I put in my PayPal account ID, I set the dollar amount to $1 (1.00) simply to test the plugin. CF7 is also v4.8.

CF7 works fine, as expected, but I get “Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later” just like others who have posted this question here.

I tried changing from my PayPal account ID to the email address linked to my PayPal account, & I’ve gotten the same problem dozens of times. There’s no 403 error.

The site & page I was testing all this with (before going live) is: <staging.performanceallies.com/your-compelling-intro/irresistible-introduction-course/

I can manually send people PayPal invoices (which I now must do with my live site), OR I’ll have to seek out new plugins (both for PayPal billing & contact form?).

    Hi @nogeekspeak,

Please make sure the amount does not contain a $ sign.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Yes, I did make sure of that. That’s not the problem.

And NO, the problem is NOT resolved.

    @nogeekspeak,

    From: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/43977553/paypal-integration-ewp-settings-error

I believe the problem is in the PayPal configuration. You need to allow un-encrypted websites to make payments to paypal. In order to do so, login to your PayPal account then:

Profile & Settings –> My Selling Tools –> Website Preferences

Go down to the section “Encrypted Website Payments” and select “off” to the “Block Non-encrypted Website Payment:”

The info on that page enabled me to “test” the redirect to PayPal from my non-encrypted test website.

But with my “live” & secure/encrypted site, I cannot choose “encrypted website payments”: PayPal continues to respond with the “Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later” page.

Is it the same URL? staging.performanceallies.com/your-compelling-intro/irresistible-introduction-course/

I just tested that URL and it sent me to the PayPal page where the amount was $1.

    Thread Starter nogeekspeak

    (@nogeekspeak)

Yes, I was able to get that to work on the test site, but no, the “live” website is here: https://performanceallies.com/your-compelling-intro/irresistible-introduction-course/

But I just discovered the Permalinks on the pages of that site are all “http” not “https” & WP won’t allow me to edit that. I think that’s why I can’t make the redirect work properly: even tho the site IS encrypted, the Permalink is telling PayPal it’s not an encrypted page???

I think I’ll have to dump that page (perhaps created before my host encrypted the site), create a new page that has the proper URL structure, & test again….

I just tried. WordPress keeps generating pages without the encrypted “https” prefix, & I don’t know how to fix this. Until I can solve this, I have to process payments manually.

    Thread Starter nogeekspeak

    (@nogeekspeak)

Found the way to fix the Permalink. Went thru CF7 settings carefully, the PayPal settings in WP, checked that the proper Permalink is appearing everywhere it should.

Trying with PP encryption setting enabled, I’m getting the same error. I am now at an impasse again, unless there’s some other info I’m lacking?

    Hi @nogeekspeak,

The plugin only works with the encrypted payments setting off. The encrypted payments feature is useful if you are using PayPal hosted buttons, but it will not work with plugins such as this one.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Is that safe for transactions?

    Plugin Author Scott Paterson

    (@scottpaterson)

    @nogeekspeak,

It’s perfectly safe. Just use your Merchant ID.

The only thing that can happen is that someone could change the price of your item to something like $0.01 and purchase it. But you would notice that. It is very unlikely and if that happens you can report the transaction to PayPal.

    Thanks,
    Scott
