• It’s amazing what you can accomplish as a develop when you don’t treat your (potential) customers shabbily.

After having issues and moving on, I was able to get this product working with short codes.

Hopefully I will be able to get all of this configured in a manner that is conducive to my overall plan.

Hey @douggeeks sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

The free version of WP User Manager does come with content restriction functionality:

Restrict content with shortcodes, you can:

    • Restrict to logged in users only
    • Restrict to specific users only
    • Restrict specific user roles only

The plugin also has block editor support, so you can restrict access to blocks (and groups of blocks) in a similar fashion, see https://wpusermanager.com/news/blocks-wordpress-block-editor/

You should put some documentation about that somewhere in your software. I might not have deleted it.

If I cannot find another suitable plugin I may give yours another try. It seems rather bloated for my rather simplistic needs.

    I appreciate the response.

FWIW I have Cornerstone, which means I can’t use Gutenburg, so I didn’t see any of those prompts.

    I tried it out again.

At the very least, the content that it does share is formatted into a different style and color of font. I didn’t play with the codes much, but multiple codes in one text element seemed to cause problems.

Doesn’t look like this is going to work. Unless you have a solution I’m not seeing?

Your second screenshot isn’t the same content and shows Ultimate Member shortcodes, different to this plugin.

My mistake. I changed the codes, added them to the HTML side of the text element in Cornerstone (which is awful, fwiw) and the codes worked immediately with no problems.

PBKAC the whole time. Go figure.

The question is are short codes the only way this plugin can restrict content? Any idea if it will work across elements, or if I have to install the code around each element (i.e. image/text)?

You should be able to wrap as much of the content in a shortcode as possible. The premium addon does give you the ability to make whole posts restricted.

Glad it’s all sorted so far ??
