• I tried different export settings with the same export folder containing files that don’t work. Open the index file and I get missing CSS and image. Folder structure is not what I expected which should contain standard sub folders like CSS, JS, and images. Switch to another similar plugin which does the job as I expected.

    Hey @skylabb,

thanks for your review, and I’m glad you found a working alternative!

This mostly happens if the website isn’t built with web standards in mind, which can be quickly checked with the w3c validator here: https://validator.w3.org/

Due to the huge variety in the quality of websites built with WordPress due to page builders, poorly-maintained plugins, and different hosting setups, the results are quite different from website to website.

At least by following the minimum amount of web standards provided by w3C you can ensure to get a decent result with Simply Static.

    Best regards,
    Patrick

Thanks for the response. Your suggestion of validation checking is a good idea. If this step is an important part for a successful export and to minimize surprises, it should be mentioned and emphasized on the plugin description page.

    Hey @skylabb,

thanks a lot for your feedback!

You are right, I should make that more clear.

I will add that to the description and within the plugin to ensure everyone knows what’s going on and what to do.

    Have a nice evening,
    Patrick
