• REVISION # 2 ————————————-

Customer support on this was great and issues are being worked out, I changed my rating. Thanks Devin!

    —————————————————

This plugin doesn’t work, nor does it appear to have the functionality it shows in “Screenshots.”

There is the following error each pageload:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in ……. wp-content/plugins/google-maps-builder/public/class-wordpress-google-maps-engine.php on line 119

And it only has two tabs, Maps and General, no map “builder” as implied in the title.

    REVISION ——————————————

I got this plugin to work after changing the “menu item” number value, then the plugin magically appeared in my menu like it should have automatically.

I was using WP Google Map plugin, which is better, but it wouldn’t show on my site after SSL, guess I’ll downgrade to this plugin until the other’s support gets back to me.

I say downgrade because this is somewhat over complicated, and the other plugin has several more options.

I’m a bit confused as to why you gave the 1 star review? Is it because you were confused at the install process or the PHP warning you received? If you could work with support BEFORE rating 1-star that would be appreciated since that way we can work constructively to improve the plugin.

Hasty 1 star reviews are not a good thing.

    Sorry for the confusion.

I installed the plugin and had to troubleshoot immediately, which should never really occur.

In general, this turns out to be a “good” plugin, though, the menu list number is ridiculous to me, and it seems that is what caused all of my errors. I am not sure why you included that option, but I recommend removing it. The plugin did not work properly or even show up in the menu at all until I picked a “smaller” menu list number. Weird.

Also, I’d like to be able to place addresses in the location field, without needing to go find Long/Lat.

Sorry if you think it was hasty, maybe I should’ve provided you with a two star rating, and I tried changing the review to no avail. On the same token, you replied and WP Google Maps plugin failed to provide support when their map stopped rendering after I implemented SSL on my site. So kudos there.

Regardless, I personally think plugins should work out of the box without errors, not sure why there was that generated error in the first place but it cost me 30 minutes of time and was pretty frustrating once I realized I needed to change the menu item number in order to see the proper functions in the menu.

Good luck with updates, and in the future I’ll recommend your plugin.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Many things can lead to a plugin not working on install like theme and plugin conflicts, hosting incompatiblity, etc. So it’s difficult to guarantee that the plugin will work flawlessly for every setup.

The menu number is something that’s added for the user’s convenience. A lot of plugins place their menu item in a certain place and moving it is difficult without coding experience. This is the first I’ve heard of an issue with it but I’ll keep my eye out and if it’s causing more confusion I may just scrap it.

I’m not sure what you mean:

I'd like to be able to place addresses in the location field, without needing to go find Long/Lat.

You should be able to enter any location/address is the Google autocomplete field and have that marker display on that location without ever touching the lng/lat fields.

I’m trying to do my best to support this free plugin and improve it for all users. 1 star ratings are very discouraging when so much work has gone into it and it’s offered to the community for no charge.

My goal is to make this the best Google maps plugin for WordPress. I would like to thank you for bringing your issues to light. If you would like to re-rate the plugin you can do so by navigating here https://www.ads-software.com/support/view/plugin-reviews/google-maps-builder and scrolling all the way to the bottom. You can adjust your review there.

Keep an eye out for many improvements and enhancements in the future!
