• Uploading two versions of the same image with only the file name changed. First version done before installing the plugin and the second version done after installing the plugin and setting compression to 60. Result: the “after” files (full and thumb) are the same size as the “before” files.

If this plugin had worked, the “after” files should have been smaller than the “before” files.

@artsnovadotcom, I’m the dev and would like to resolve this:

I’d like to test this locally and fix if possible. Can you send me a copy of the file you were working with? …either via Dropbox to {my first & last names} gmail.com, or a web link? Also, what what was your compression setting before activating this plugin?

Also, do you know if your server uses the gd or IMagick library? This plugin doesn’t have built-in PNG compression support (nor does WP) unless you’re using IMagick libs are installed & enabled.

    Hi Mike,
Compression setting before seems to have been 90. That is what was indicated on the slider. Even though I had previously edited functions.php to change quality from 90 to 70 – which had no impact at all – nor did other changes. Hence my decision to try a plugin.

The images I’m working with are jpegs – I had no expectation re png compression.

Both GD and imagick libs are available to me.
