This plugin installs and runs fine, but the imported text has huge gaps that simply aren’t imported at all.

Does the Word doc need to be formatted in some special way? I’m just feeding it plain old Word docs created by others, and the results with Mammoth are far worse than simply copying & pasting into WordPress.

Is it possible WordPress’s visual editor has been improved to the point that this plugin is no longer necessary?

I can supply a very simple Word doc example if one of the developers is interested in identifying my problem. I’m pretty curious as all the reviews are so positive.

    Hello,

Mammoth normally does fine with documents just containing text. If bits are missing, then that suggests that unsupported features are being used, such as text boxes. Are any warnings produced by Mammoth when you run the import? If you’d like to send me an example, then feel free to send it to [email protected].

    Hello,

The latest version of Mammoth now includes text from text boxes. Since Mammoth produces a linear document, it will put the content of a text box after the paragraph containing the text box. At the very least, this should mean that the content of the document is included in the generated document.

Based on the document you sent me, that should fix your issue.

Thanks for all the insight and suggestions Michael. I will take another look at Mammoth.

Yes, being included is more important than being in the right spot. A casual proofreader would never pick up on a missed paragraph, but bad formatting would be easy to spot.

    Charles.
