After updating to php 7 I have a issue and my hosting provvider tried to help me.

This is his solution

“There is a class defined: SAR_Settings which extends the class: scbAdminPage

And in both of the classes SAR_Settings and scbAdminPage there is the same function: “validate”. However in the scbAdminPage class the function arguments are different than the one in the SAR_Settings and that triggers the warning as in PHP 7.0 the arguments should be the same for the 2 functions.

So if you want to get the problem resolved fully contact the developer of smart-archives-reloaded and provide him with the above information regarding the PHP 7.0 version and the defined classes. Once you provide him with the information he should be able to adjust the plugin code for PHP 7.0 and release an update of the plugin which should resolve the warning that you are getting.”

So, there is need a free developer that resolve it.

The plugin is on GPL License.

Hi,

I see the problem. With no development of the plugin for a number of years and no apparent answers from the author in the support forum, it does look to be abandoned.

However, you must realise that PHP 7 was only released a few months ago. This may not be the last plugin that causes issues, or you may be lucky – the majority of plugins won’t have been tested on PHP 7 but may work because they’ve avoided anything that could trigger an error. Please just bear this in mind.

I’ve taken over abandoned plugins the past but don’t have the availability to do this at the moment. However, when I have a few moments free I’ll look at the code for this plugin and see if I can work out a fix that you can apply yourself.

Thanks David for your words and advices.

Now I have downgrade at php 5.6 and it’s working fine. On the other site (that is the same but in another language) Ihaven’t any issue….mystery!

when you’ll try to fix this plugin, I could help you testing on my blog.

Same error. But you should not downgrade php because of a plugin. You should better search and find an alternative as the plugin may stay in state for monthes… or years.
