doing a child theme of Dream Way

Hi Andy, this is a child theme itself, so you can customize it directly.

Thank you for the reply. My confusion comes from the idea that 1 of the top reasons for a child theme from someone else’s theme is so that my customizations are not lost should the theme get updated. If i edit the theme files directly how do I protect against this loss of customization if a theme updates comes out?

Hello, I have been trying to get the child theme dream way custom page sidebars to work. I have followed the instructions on your site to the letter and I never get “a new section” I’m not sure how to proceed from here. Thank you.

Per Page Sidebars

Use?“Custom sidebars” Section’s settings?to add sidebars to a specific page. Select page from the drop down menu and press save. This action adds new section to the panel “Customize Sidebars” with the name of this page. Refresh customizer to see a new section in the “Customoze sidebars” panel. Select sidebars in this section to be displayed on this page, save results and refresh customizer one more time.

Thank you for responding. No I don’t. I have tried other things beyond your instructions. I have tried deleting pages and making new ones. I deleted the theme and reloaded. I have cleared my browser. I have even tried to get it to work on my cell phone and a tablet.

Do you by chance have a video to follow?

klewis1119, I found this: Customizing > Customize Layout > Page > UNCHECK DISPLAY TITLE.

My problem seems really stupid and basic, but I can’t seem to remove the search bar from just beneath the Home page title and menu. Help?
