• My files are in a directory called ‘blog’. Would I be better off copying just the ‘blog’ directory onto my computer or should I do ‘public_html’?

  • If you just want your blog, then grab /blog. If you want everything you have online then grab public_html and everything under it.

And don’t forget your database! WordPress_Backups

Chris if you have a second I could use a little more help…..just to be clear, when upgrading via FTP:

When it says delete old directories (wp-includes and wp-admin) and replace…..it’s as simple as uploading the new ones via FTP into the spot where the old ones were correct?

Maybe I’m overthinking, but I don’t want any errors!

Yup, you have the right idea.
I suspect you already found it but just in case: Upgrading_WordPress

Ok, so deleted/uploaded new wp-includes/we-admin. Went to the /wp-admin location and got this (major issue I’m guessing):

(I replaced my host username below with *****)

Warning: include_once(/home2/*****/public_html/blog/wp-includes/streams.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/*****/public_html/blog/wp-settings.php on line 230

Are you sure you copied the root pages too and not only those 2 dirs? Sometimes, also them root files change, you know… who knows, it might just help. ??

    What’s my next move? :/

Did you upload all the files in the “main” WordPress directory as well?
