    I have a multisite installation.

I have another domain mapped and it works fine.

I have the multisite plugin installed and I added the new domain and assigned it to site number 5. I added an @record on GoDaddy where the new domain is hosted and it’s pointing to the IP address provided in the domain mapping plugin page.

For some reason it is still not mapping. I’m missing something but I can’t think of what it is. Any idea?

  • If you post links to the sites, someone here might be able to investigate.

What do you mean by ‘not mapping’? What error are you getting? Did you check that the DNS has propgated? See whatsmydns.net for help with checking

I get a page that just shows links.

Thanks for the offer of help.

    I have a wordpress multisite installation. It’s at eraeducationproject.com

It is hosted with Hostgator and the domain is registered at Godaddy

I already have a subdomain called erauniversity.eraeducationproject.com and I mapped another domain that is registered at Godaddy to it, erauniversity.com

It has been working just fine.

Now I made another site, equalmeansequal.eraeducationproject.com and I registered another domain at Godaddy, equalmeansequal.com

I did, what I think is the same thing I did for erauniversity.com, I kept the nameservers the same and changed the A record to point to the same IP address indicated on the domain mapping server IP address.

I mapped the equalmeansequal.com to the site number of equalmeansequal.eraeducationproject.com

It has never resolved. equalmeansequal.com just showed me a page with links. I just tried re-doing the whole thing. I looked the domain up on whatsmydns.net and it says the right ip.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong this time?

https://equalmeansequal.com/ works for me. Perhaps re-doing the whole thing made it work after a while.

It may be DNS propogation. Sometimes it takes 72 hours. That’s the absolute max, BTW. Normally it’s an hour.

Huh. ONE wifi I used worked, one did not. DNS for sure.

Thanks for helping me out. I’m still not seeing it, but I’ll wait it out.

Are you seeing a wordpress site when you go to equalmeansequal.com? I’m seeing a site that has equalmeansequal related advertising links on it.

Can you check this once again? It’s been about two days and it is still not looking right. Thanks for your help.

It’s pointing to the right IP, so the problem is likely the server. Perhaps you didn’t park the domain on the server?

    (@mrmyth)

Thanks Ipstenu. I think that may very well be the case. I have to park equalmeansequal.com on top of eraeducationproject.com

I see that I have done that with the other ones I have and not this one.

I’ve just done it. It is still not working, but it may have to propagate. I’ll reply back to let you know if it worked.

That was the answer! Apparently in this scenario you have to go into the host panel of and park the domain on top of the top level domain.

I must have done that with my other domains and I just forgot that step.

    Thanks for your help!
