• I am a total newbie with WP. I just purchased a domain name. I installed WP with no problems and installed a theme with no problems. Then I went to the the settings page (I can no longer get there so that may not be the exact name) and it asked me for 2 addresses, my wordpress address and my blog address. Not sure I understand the difference, but anyhow I made one and then I believe the other my root domain. i.e. https://www.domainname.com.

Well at that point when I go to https://www.domainname.com I only see the root folders, parent directory, cgi-bin, and wordpress. And no matter what address I enter I can no longer get back to my wordpress admin panel (which used to be https://domainname/wordpress

    1. How do I get it back to what it was since I can no longer find the admin page

    2. How do I make it so my root domain (www.domainname.com) is the address for my blog?

    Thanks!

I decided gto just delete my WP install and reinstall. So if someone could just tell me how to make my root domain (assuming that is the proper terminology) the address for my blog, I would appreciate it.

    Thank You

When you extract the wordpress zip file, then move all the files and folders from the “wordpress” directory into root.

Got it, thanks. I have three links (Home, Blog, About) that are part of the top navigation bar that came loaded with the theme I am using. I have figured out how to get rid of them or modify them.

I can figure out how to add a new page/link. But not modify or delete the existing ones. Right now for instance the main blog address takes me to the home page. But I don’t need a “home” page, I just want the main address to go to the blog page. And when I click on the link at the top for “blog” it never goes to the blog page. I can however get to the blog page by creating a new post for the blog page, and then clicking on a ling to that post from the home page!

    Thanks

oops, sorry, meant to say “I cannot figure out how to get rid of them or modify them”.

Depends on the theme. It’s possible those links are hardcoded in header.php rather than using wp_list_pages.

Just do is reinstall wordpress and decide one domain as your blog. And then all you must know is wp-admin.php is your Admin Dashboard . And wp-login.php is your Admin Login Page. that’s it. YOUR PROBLEM IS SOLVED.
