• I have a self-hosted site on WordPress: theordinaryinstant.com. I recently transferred domain ownership from GoDaddy to Squarespace and now I cannot find my site at all. Going to theordinaryinstant.com/wp-admin and every iteration of such only results in being kicked back to my Squarespace site carrie-horton.com. I’ve contacted Squarespace, but since I can’t gain access to my WordPress site in the first place, they’re not sure how to help. Can you? Thanks!

You’ve directed the domain name to Squarespace, which is not where your WordPress files are hosted. Your WordPress files are back on GoDaddy.

So, overall, you have to decide what you want to use for your site. If you want to use Squarespace, keep the domain at Squarespace. If you want to use your old WordPress site, you need to point the domain back to GoDaddy.

Okay thanks for the info. Do you know if there’s any way to get into WordPress and have my site still hosted on their but just pointing to a domain that’s owned under Squarespace?

Yes, you can have your domain registered at one company and your hosting at another company. That’s not a problem at all.

You’ll need to contact Squarespace’s support or check their documentation, but overall you’ll be looking for a way to change your domain’s name servers to those of your GoDaddy hosting plan (also, check GoDaddy’s documentation or support department for that).
