I am not sure what the decaf version is like… I do not see the workflow as described what it should. Does it mean the decaf version does just one step of many? For example the checkout process is sending emails, in the pro Version also electronic ticket as attachement, and how goes QR code to smartphone? There is a lot of things unclear, like the process with some themes, for example JANUAS and the integration in detail… even theme developer shows nothing…

  • Hello, those are some good questions!

Here is the registration flow for a free event:

Attendee/registrant arrives at an event page and selects their ticket options and then clicks on the Register Now button. This starts registration checkout and a registrant/attendee can enter in their contact details. There registration is complete once they submit the form for their contact information.

If the event is paid, then the registration flow is similar to the above except that there is a payment step after their registration details are collected. After they pay, then their registration is marked as complete (registration approved).

Event Espresso 4 decaf does not support certain features like customizing the registrations form to collect custom information.

If that is needed, then the regular version of Event Espresso 4 is a better fit as it also supports our various add-ons such as the Ticketing add-on, Multiple Event Registration, and others.

Event Espresso 4 does not require a specific theme to run. Any theme that follows the WordPress theme coding standards should work well. If you are looking for an event-oriented theme, then a theme like JANUAS or Tyler by Show themes would be a better fit.

You can get setup with your own demo site for Event Espresso 4 here:

I wanted to give you a new resource for Event Espresso, it’s called our Quick Start guide that has several videos on using Event Espresso:
