Donation list numbers different on PayPal

  • Hi,

    Ever since I enabled Sequential Numbering on the donation list, the number displayed on PayPal in “Memo” and “Custom” is one more than the number displayed in the plugin.

    For example:

    1237 by John Doe, in WP Give plugin

    will say:

    Custom 1238
    ——————-
    ——————-
    Memo 1238

    on PayPal under that name and transaction.

    My client and I are both confused as to what has caused this issue.

    Please advise.

    What you’re seeing is the expected behavior of that tool. I’d be happy to shed a bit more light on how it works.

    When setting up the Sequential Numbering, the donation number you add in is the number used to generate the next donation ID.

    Say your last donation was 567 and you’ve migrated to a new site, so you want to make sure to pick up where you left off. You’d add 567 to that field in settings and the next donation will go from there.

    Ok,

    But now PayPal’s Custom and Memo numbers have jumped by 6 places.

    On the Give donor list, I have a donation marked as 1262

    But on PayPal, that donation is marked as 1268.

    What could be changing the value as the data passes from Give to PayPal?
