Donation plug-in?

  • I am trying to figure out if there’s a way around this paypal BS:

    “This button is intended for fundraising. If you are not raising money for a cause, please choose another option. Nonprofits must verify their status to withdraw donations they receive. Users that are not verified nonprofits must demonstrate how their donations will be used, once they raise more than $10,000.”

    This is the note that is given to you if you try to set up a paypal donation button. I’ve looked it up and it sounds like they WILL freeze your account unless you can prove your non-profit status etc etc. Well, I’m not a non profit organization.. I’m just a person writing a blog as I travel.

    I want to be able to put up some kind of button that allows people to donate any amount of money to support my travels, be it friends or family or a random reader. But I don’t want to get in trouble with paypal.

    Is there anything that will allow me to do this without paypal potentially freezing my account?

    Sorry, but any advice that could be given here would be really suspect and probably inaccurate.

    This is a WordPress support forum and not a How To Deal With PayPal support forum. ??

    If you haven’t done so then try plugins via these searches.

    The first hit looks promising but don’t take anyone’s word here for whether or not PayPal will have an issue with it. Ask PayPal and see if they can provide some tangible guidance for what you want to do with them.

    This is true. I just thought someone may have some experience.

    And there is no harm in allowing people to send you money if they WANT to, especially since I AM going on a volunteer trip. It’s not like if you visit my site, I steal your money. I have a cause behind my writing, it is just not anything paypal would probably consider legitimate.

    And I’ve tried looking at the plug-ins, but I can’t tell by their descriptions if they work under that same paypal clause or not.
