Donation Receipt in Email not working

    hi

    I’ve installed GiveWP version 2.21.4 on WordPress 6.0.1.
    So far in my test mode I was able to make payment and receive email receipt.
    On turning up ‘real’ model I was able to make payment (through Stripe, PayPal, Credit Card) and all went well and amount is deducted / credited.

    But I’m unable to receive email receipts.
    Based on the help from the forum I was able to debug my WordPress email setup.
    As of now my details in WordPress are
    “Administrative Email Address: admin@”mydomain”.com.au
    With email police plugin I able to receive receive two emails for given a donation.

    In summary I checked and crossed what I think or where I think the potential issue could be. But still unable to find the root cause.

    So wondering any pointer will be much appreciated – as to why I’m unable to receive email receipt.

    Hi @ksdas,

    The first thing to check when you are not receiving emails is that the donations are being marked as complete on the GiveWP side. That’s what triggers the email, so if they aren’t getting marked as Complete, that would be the problem we need to resolve, first.

    Email deliverability from your website is sort of out of our control here. However, we have this article that can help you: https://givewp.com/documentation/core/frequent-troubleshooting-issues/troubleshooting-common-email-problems/

    My first suggestion is to walk through that doc to check on potential issues with your email settings.

    If the email is not coming through there might be an issue with email deliverability in general — that is controlled by your host. Usually, email deliverability issues can be solved via using SMTP instead of the default PHP mail function that is provided by WordPress out of the box.

    Please see the “Sending Email from your WordPress Site via SMTP” section in the link above^^^ for more info.

    The short version is that you need to confirm WordPress is sending them, and then figure out why they aren’t being delivered.

    Most of our users who walk through those steps are able to resolve email issues.
