The plugin was designed to allow the featured image to be displayed on a page at its ‘large size’ with the ability to zoom-in on hover using the ‘full’ size image. This is why it is called “featured image zoom”

You can add the shortcode [zoom] to the content of a page, post or ‘custom post type’ post that has a featured image.

The shortcode will then be replaced by the featured image at the large size. The reason the plugin works like this is because that was the specific functionality that was required for the site I created the plugin for and once I made it I thought maybe other people might have similar requirements and would appreciate a simple plugin to achieve the same result.

If the post/page where the shortcode is entered does not have a featured image, the plugin won’t have anything to display. If you require different functionality to that described on the plugin page and on this post, this is not the correct plugin to use.

Leaving a one-star review for a plugin which works as described simply because you didn’t read the description/instructions, or you were unable to understand them is not cool.

Enter the shortcode In the page content where you want the image to appear – just like you would with any other shortcode
