Don’load gpx file

Hello Andrea,

It is possible that I may have overlooked something when parsing the GPX file format, although I have tested it with a great deal of my own files from various sources. Thus, do you think you could send me the file that is causing this issue?
Also, does it happen with just one file, or with many/all?

There has been indeed something I have overlooked: I am carrying out a rather aggressive validation of the files and your file has some characters at the very beginning, that, although legal, were considered invalid. I have managed to devise a solution and if this is an urgent matter for you, I can provide a patch and walk you through updating your plug-in.

I am happy to say that release is ahead schedule and it will be published in a couple of days, right after the French translation comes out. In the mean time, it would like to ask whether you would be able to send me some more GPX files to test it all out (also, they should nicely serve as trip tips once this whole virus thing bytes the dust :P).

the download of GPX files on my website is free, you can go to https://www.navtrekking.com/lista-escursioni/ and for every hike a button “scarica” is under the map. I know that it is all in italian language, so let me know if you have problem.

So, I’ve updated the plug-in. If and when you can take a couple of minutes, could you please update to 0.2.4 and see if your issue is now resolved? The tests I ran were successful.

I’m really sorry to hear that and was really looking forward to a happy conclusion, especially since the tests turned out fine. I have a sample over here of one of your own tracks, https://alexboia.net/test-gpx/, successfully uploaded and properly displayed, which is why this is all the more puzzling.
Thus, if I may be so bold, I would like to ask you whether you could grant me access to your WP admin: web browsers have some tools that can be used to track what’s happening behind the scenes whenever we’re doing something on a web page and I hope that being able to upload a couple of tracks myself and use those tools I can figure out what exactly is not working out for you.
I can understand if you are uncomfortable with that and, as an alternate, maybe we can establish a TeamViewer session and I could guide you through this process.

As for your other question, there currently is no shortcode, but it is included in the version I’m currently working on.

Hello Andrea,

I have added some additional error codes and messages, in 0.2.5, when uploading files. This is aimed at providing a better description when something goes wrong. Thus, I would be more than interested in seeing an actual error message after updating to 0.2.5.

Also, the trip summary viewer can now be inserted using a shortcode anywhere in the post contents. If you are using the block editor, there is also a custom block that basically acts as a shortcode.
