My clients upload full size images so I installed Imagify, but when I work on their website I resize, crop, optimize and convert their images to WebP before uploading, but your plugin optimizes it anyway, and frankly it turns it to sh!t, here’s an example [ redundant link removed ]

While the optimized image is smaller than the one I made (17kb vs 25kb) it’s also to low quality to use, so can you add a quality setting/slider and don’t optimize WebP images at all ?

    Hi @joegp

    Thank you for contacting us!

Can you please clarify if you have already tried to optimize your images using the Lossless compression level through Settings > Imagify? With this compression level, there should be no quality loss.

Also, it looks like the images are displayed through Jetpack CDN. We had some cases before with low image quality which was related to Jetpack re-optimization. Jetpack does extra optimization on the images that have already been optimized and is causing the poor image quality. Could you please check that?

Regarding WebP optimization, I will have to inform you that we have added it on our last update v2.1.1 and unfortunately, there is no way at the moment to exclude WebP from optimization. The only way you could exclude images is if you disable the “Auto-optimization on upload” option and go to Media Library(List View) so you can optimize only the images you need to be optimized.

Let me know if you have further questions. I’ll be happy to help.

    Best Regards,

    Hi,

No, I have not tried the lossless compression method, I don’t see a reason to ever use that, it’s the same as an uncompressed file which is way too big.

You probably have WebP compression set to 60 or something, but I prefer 80, lossless compression would be the same as 100, so I might as well not use your plugin and just upload unedited files at that point.

Yes, that website uses Jetpack but here is how an image optimized by me and then Jetpack CDN looks like /dental-emergency-okotoks/ (it doesn’t suffer from the same low quality)

Where there actually users uploading lossless WebP files ? because I don’t see any other reason to have a feature like WebP optimization. I would remove it, if I were you, if you can’t add way to disable it.

I have already disabled the “Auto-optimization on upload”, which fixes my problem but does nothing for the full, un-edited, un-optimized images my clients upload, which is the only reason I need your plugin.

But it’s OK, I’ll just use a different image compression/optimization plugin, I know of at least 1 that has quality sliders.

Side note to @joegp Your gratuitous use of links are making the spam filter yell “BAN JOEGP NOW!”

Could you avoid that and just use the link field please?
