• I think I am missing something. Firstly do I have to build my palette from scratch? Am I expected to know the color codes I want?

Also I can see no different color grids. I have tried adding some colors but the only manifestation I get of this plugin is these colors in the blocks underneath the default graduated color picker square. Nothing else changes – ok the block editor loses its graduated square and I just get circles of the colors I added. But the theme customiser (GeneratePress NonPro, Hello, tewntytwenty) just shows the created colours and the same old color picker. Elementor Pro tjust shows the default color palette in the global setting and the same color picker in other style settings – if I deactivate the plugin I get told (correctly) that the color palette is not active.

I have tried deactivating all but this and elementor plugins but no different. I am not seeing any different color grids. Have I misunderstood what this plugin does? I am trying local but have temporarily tried another public site (that I cannot leave with the thems changed) but the same results.

Yes you have to build your palette from scratch, that’s sort of the idea of this plugin. You do not need to know these colour codes. Simply click on the coloured box next to the input fields in which you can type these colour codes and a visual aid pops up. If you add a new colour entry to the list this box is usually black.

My plugin manages one central colour palette hence it’s name. It does not replace any colour pickers or other ways to choose and assign colours. All vanilla WordPress colour pickers – inside the Theme Customiser and the new block editor – and some third party plugins and themes receive your palette and make them available inside their own colour pickers. It does not add or override their means to manage palettes like Elmentor does. What plugins and themes are currently supported please have a look at the plugin site, there’s a list.

The colour grids only show up inside the classic editor which is not officially part of WordPress since version 5. If you have a look at the box in which you can choose those colour grids you’ll see that its labels “Classic Editor”. Assuming you are using WordPress 5, unless you use a plugin that restores the post editor to its old state these grids are pretty useless. My plugin still offers these grids for legacy purposes since I do not know if people are still using an older version of WordPress or some such.
