Yesterday I changed things so the smaller banner for the pages is also on the home page. At first all was fine and then the next time I went to look the banner shows twice, one on top of the other, on all pages. The image code is only entered once in the text widget. Can you explain how this could possible happen and, more importantly, how to make it go back to single again?

I still can’t show the site so here is a link to the screenshot.

    Thank you!

Do you have two text widgets with the banner showing on the same location?

Based on your question I’ve fixed it, but now I could use some better understanding. I started out with text widgets ‘!Home and !Pages with a wide banner in the first, a narrow banner in the second. We decided to go with the narrow banner throughout so I changed the url in !Home to the one for the narrow banner. This meant that both widgets had the same image but for the two separate destinations. This, of course, is when the problem started and I didn’t put it together.

So how does this work? The image seems to trump the !Home/!Pages directive, doing so across all of the pages. Now that I know, I can avoid this but I would still like to understand in case there is another way to make use of it.
    Thank you

I’m not quite sure I follow what you were doing previously, but if you want the same image on every page (throughout your site), then use one text widget with your image banner in it.

However, what are you using to originally show widgets on select pages?

I was using the plugin you recommend with !Home and !Pages for the widget headings. I was just trying to understand it better. Thanks

I’m not sure why this was left unresolved, but this is turning out to be a good thing because now I have a mystery. The site has had the same banner and curve-replacement for at least a month. Now, for unknown reasons, the banner has disappeared from the home page. The url is here. The banner widget has the same code it has had since it was placed there.

In the customizer the curve is set to show on all pages, which it does. I have added a few plugins but haven’t been paying a lot of attention to the home page, so I don’t know when the banner disappeared. Are you able to shed any light on this?

    Thank you

I’ve set this topic as not resolved…

I tried your link but it says your site is down (cannot be reached). Is it currently offline?

That is odd. The site is up. Let’s try this again…

    Working now…thanks.
OK, so if I understand this right, your banner is not showing? Right now, it shows the “no banner” container, which means no banner is published to that spot (sidebar) and/or it’s set to not show on the front page via the Display Widgets plugin settings for that banner widget.

Double check your settings to make sure it’s set to “Show” on the “Front Page”, and that it is indeed published to the “Banner” sidebar position.

Wow, this is crazy! I went back in and realized that the widget was set to not show on the Home page. I would feel like a complete idiot except for the fact that the banner has been showing on the Home page for weeks. How this could have been possible is a complete mystery. At any rate, thanks again. Problem solved!

    No worries…things happen…even for me.
But, what is important is that this one is all good to go. Cheers!
