Hi, this is a great plugin, the only quirk I have is the posts (they are job listings) I have set up to autopublish will publish twice or three times on linkedin if the (idiotic) impatient or nervous twitch user clicks more than once on the submit button. It doesn’t happen with the Twitter of FB autopost plugins, only this one, is there a tweak to slow that down? Thanks for some great work, very much like it.

    Hi there,

What you are describing shouldn’t be possible. Yes, it is possible to click the ‘Share Now’ button multiple times, and it will show the relevant amount of successfully shared messages after the button – so it will look like you have shared the post multiple times. However if LinkedIn sees the same content being posted twice in quick succession it will only post the content once – at least from all my testing.

Please note what I am describing above should only take place for the ‘Share Now’ button. If you just publish the post naturally using the ‘Publish’ button if you press this button twice it will only share to LinkedIn once.

However there’s no reason why the button couldn’t provide better feedback to the user. So I have just released version 5.14 of the plugin and when you click the ‘Share now’ button it will now provide feedback that it’s sending so this should prevent the temptation of people clicking the button twice.

Thanks for your kind words on the plugin and I have put some attribution to you in the changelog for the suggestion:)

    I agree, and I don’t think it’s your plugin, see: https://www.linkedin.com/company-beta/11160978/

This is happening after a front end submission, when the user posts a job listing, (which is a custom post), so it’s all tied to everything that happens to that, and then swirling in the 3 autopost plugins. It takes about 5 seconds to build the job post, I was thinking I could try to reorder how it happens, but it’s not that big of a thing at this point. Thanks for the reply, keep up the cool work.

    Hi again,

No worries. Yeah the plugin hooks into a WordPress function called post transition status. Which means when the post transitions from something to being published the auto-publishing feature kicks in. So this would happen in the example you mentioned where there’s a front end submission form.

I don’t know if this will be helpful for your specific example but someone enquired a couple of weeks ago with a similar kind of issue. If you don’t want the post to auto-publish automatically what you can do is in the plugin settings make sure the ‘job listing’ custom post type is turned off. Then when you go to your All Job Listings Page you can manually post the jobs. This may not be helpful for what you want to achieve but I thought I would put it out there.

Alternatively, and if you are fairly technical, you can always put some javascript on your button to show a loading message when clicked or even prevent the button being clicked twice as described in this forum post here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16814157/how-to-prevent-users-from-submitting-a-form-twice

    Thanks,
