    Hi there,

I’m trying to find a way to turn on Double Opt-in in Hustle so that the subscribers can confirm their emails before being added to Hustle’s Local email list as well as the email list of the 3rd-party email integration. However, I can’t find this feature in Hustle Free.

Is it the double opt-in feature only available in Hustle Pro and we are unable to do it with the free version?

Please kindly help me on this matter. Thank you!

    Best Regards,
    Elya

  • Hello @elyalorde !

    Hope you’re doing well today!

We’re sorry for the inconvenience here! As we’ve had a similar question, our docs team will be updating the documentation for this feature, you can check the similar discussion here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/doubl-e-optin/

In short, double opt-in needs to be enabled on the 3rd party platform, here’s an example for Mailerlite: https://www.mailerlite.com/help/how-to-use-double-opt-in-when-collecting-subscribers#new/enable-double-opt-in-for-api

This is a feature that’s available in both the free and the Pro versions of Hustle.

    Best regards,
    Pawel

    Hi Pawel,

I hope you have a great day as far!

Thank you for getting back to me with info regarding this matter! I appreciate your help! There is still one thing, it would be great if you could help me clarify to make sure.

I understand that in order to use Double Opt-in, I will have to enable it from the 3rd-party integration. However, Hustle has its own Local list. With most of form plugins that I have seen, usually the plugin itself will send out the “verification email”. After the subscriber clicks the link to verify, their email will be added to the Local list of the plugin as well as the email list of the 3rd-party.

Hustle plugin uses this feature of the 3rd-party integration instead of its own –>

+ Does it mean whenever the subscriber submit their email, their email will be automatically added to the Local List without verification and the Double Opt-in verification only applied to the email list of the 3rd-party? (Because they are the one who sends the verification email)

+ Or, the subscriber’s email will not be added to BOTH the Local list and the 3rd-party email list until the subscriber clicks the verification link in email from the 3rd-party first?

    Thank you,
    Elya

    Hi @elyalorde

    Thanks for response!

+ Does it mean whenever the subscriber submit their email, their email will be automatically added to the Local List without verification and the Double Opt-in verification only applied to the email list of the 3rd-party? (Because they are the one who sends the verification email)

Yes, if you are using both local list and 3rd-party integration then
    – local list will save e-mail without additional verification (double opt-in)
    – 3rd-party integration behavior will depend on how you set it – if it has double opt-in enabled, it will use it and add e-mail only if they confirm

Hustle was primarily designed for use with 3rd-party services and local list is really just an “addition”, with very basic functionality. There is a plan to add double opt-in support for local list too in future so it’s going to be there eventually but I don’t have ETA.

+ Or, the subscriber’s email will not be added to BOTH the Local list and the 3rd-party email list until the subscriber clicks the verification link in email from the 3rd-party first?

No, email will not be added to 3rd-party list until confirmed (if that service has double opt-in enabled) but will be added to local list.

It’s actually the same with other integrations. If you use e.g. third different 3rd-party integrations at the same time and no local list, then also

    – if in some of these services double opt-in is enabled; user will have to confirm
    – and to those that don’t have double opt-in enabled – e-mail will be added right away

    Hi Adam,

Thank you for your detailed answer to my questions! I understand now. It would be great if the plugin itself has “double opt-in” feature for the Local list in near future so that it would prevent spamming.

Anyway, I appreciate your help and I’m glad to know that your team is planning on adding that feature. Hopefully it will be available soon for better user experience.

Thanks again and I hope you have a great day! ??

    Best regards,
    Elya
