Whenever a new user is made, before the account is activated and a password is set by clicking on the link sent through e-mail to the user, if they mark “subscribe to newsletters”, they’re immediately CONFIRMED as subscriber, even if double opt-in is on.

    This is a terrible behavior.

People can abuse it by registering dozens of times, without ever needing to verify the e-mail(leading to the possibility of using non-existant e-mails), which then leads to MASSIVE delays and even performance problems at the time of delivering the newsletter

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi, is the opt-in mode in the “wp users” addon set to double opt-in? I looked into our code before answering, and that option is used while creating the subscription. What should happen is to have a subscriber registered as “not confirmed”.

Of course, there could be some bugs: recreating your exact configuration helps in searching where the problem is.

BTW, the wp users integration is not part of the Newsletter free plugin, is an external component, so I need to ask to move that support request to https://www.thenewsletterplugin.com.

Anyway let me know which is your configuration so we can proceed with tests. Note: if the new user log-in, that is considered a confirmation of the subscription.
