• Hi there,
I was hoping someone could help with my site title and tagline.
It seems to be coming up twice in the space above the web address bar (don’t know the technical term for it, haha)

I have only entered the text once under “General Settings”

Running Twenty Eleven theme, version 2.0

Couldn’t get the link to show up

Have you tried a different browser? It looks fine to me.

I tried it in safari and firefox, and both seem to have the same problem.

Chrome, FF, IE and Safari (PC) all look correct to me.

Try right clicking on 1 or the other and use inspect element.

    Also
    Have you tried:
-deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    You installed SEO Yoast Plugin.

Can you tell us what you have set for SEO->Titles&Metas under Home Tab

    SEO Yoast:

    Title Template:

    %%sitename%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitedesc%%

Nothing set for meta description template.

    Thanks for your help!

Just have to learn to read. Sorry. I will try to replicate it.

Check your /wp-content/themes/twentyfourteen/pheader.php file. Does it look like this?
    <title><?php wp_title( ‘|’, true, ‘right’ ); ?></title>

Not too sure where I would find that. Sorry! Is that under “appearance” then “editor” ?

I did find that the SEO by Yoast was the plugin that was causing the problem.

Would changing the title template affect that at all?

That would be in your files at the host. You could look at it using a file manager of ftp.

I use that plugin on my site and twentyfourteen.

It must be a setting in Yoast.

On the Yoast general settings page is this, “Force rewrite titles” checked or unchecked? What ever it is change it to the other. Clear cache. Any change?

Looks like checking the “Force Rewrite Titles” did the trick. Thanks so much for your help kmessinger!
