I am using SEO Framework plugin with the Ultimate Member plugin. My issue is that I have double the SEO on my pages. There is the SEO metadata inserted by SEO Framework plugin and also the SEO metadata inserted by Ultimate Member.

So it has double the SEO metadata for OG, Twitter, description etc meta tags.

The SEO framework inserts the SEO data first near the top of the page code directly under the title.

Ultimate Member inserts the SEO data nearer to the end of the head tag after all the styles and js links.

Is there a way I can get it to use just one set? Or does the ultimate member SEO data over-ride the SEO Framework data as it is set after it?

I have asked the same question on the Ultimate member support

  • Hey Greg, it really depends which set of data you want to disable. TSF is an SEO plugin and metadata are one of the core things we do and we do it pretty well (and according to various new legislations).

The more important thing is, that Ultimate member plugin probably only outputs metadata on their pages, not across the entire site and probably does not cover other SEO things, like checks for proper title and meta lengths, indexation status and others. Therefore, I would personally advise you to disable their metadata generation. Their admins surely run into this question in the past, they will give you a filter that will disable it.

However, if there is a reason you want to disable ours, let us know.

    Cheers,

The thing is that the UM SEO has the data from the members details where as the SEO framework SEO has only some of the details.

For example the UM SEO identifies and uses the members profile photo whilst the SEO framework one uses our default site image.

I have been given some code to remove the UM SEO, which works fine but I was hoping that the UM one would over-ride the SEO Framework only on the member pages.

If not possible I will revert to the SF one only as I only want one set on a page.

    Hello!

TSF maintains a compatibility layer for UM for a while now. See https://github.com/sybrew/the-seo-framework/blob/4.1.3/inc/compat/plugin-ultimatemember.php.

So, I think it’d be best to remove UM’s data, for TSF augments its. If you find a fault in this data, do let me know (show real-world examples!).

If you want to suggest us looking for user profile images (or anything else you might wish, really), please do so via a feature-request ?? https://tsf.fyi/support/request-feature
