• Hello everybody!

I am using version 2.3 an its working quite well except for a couple of plugins and I’d like to downgrade back to version 2.2x and was wondering how I can do this?

    Is a downgrade possible?

I do have database backup, but since its done automatically its a backup from the 2.3 version.

    Thanks for your help,
    with best regards,
    Markus

  • If you don’t have a backup of your 2.2.3 (or before your 2.3 upgrade) then reverting to a previous version is really not feasible.

In the future you may want to make sure you keep a backup that is made just before you upgrade.

    1. Make a DB and FTP backup of the newer WordPress to be sure to be able to go back
    2. Make an XML export file on the newer WordPress
    3. Make a new database (leaving the old one just in case something goes wrong)
    4. FTP: delete everything except for wp-content folder, sitemaps etc.
    5. Upload older WP version, configure wp-config.php with new database and install blog as normal
    6. Configure the blog
    7. Import the cleaned up XML file

    Idea came from:

Solution provided as-is with no warranties whatsoever. You are solely responsible for what you do with your blog.

Don’t know if it’s smart though. But then again, if you escaped the dance with your 2.3, there’s probably nothing to worry about ??
