    I Can’t update any file or plugins. I get this:

    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-3.4.2-partial-1.zip…

    Download failed.: Destination directory for file streaming does not exist or is not writable.

    Installation Failed

    Also my comments and contact pages are not working I get this:

    The webpage cannot be found
    HTTP 404
    Most likely causes:
    ?There might be a typing error in the address.
    ?If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.
    What you can try:

    Retype the address.
    Go back to the previous page.
    Go to and look for the information you want.

  • i changed hosting account re installed WP the re installed genisis and child theme, then imported the .xml file
    that i exported before changing hosts of my site
    i had to re upload media and fixed the pic links i had in my posts manually not sure if it would have uploaded to same name but decided to do manual.
    had to re add all plug ins but everything is working fine
    alternatively you could delete your entire site through your cpanel after exporting the .xml file and start again

    thanks for everyones help im not sure i solved the problem but i have definitely side stepped it and avoided it so now i can move on and forget about this nightmare ??

    All my sites upgraded fine except one that fails every upgrade with “Upgrade failed. Directory for streaming has wrong permissions” or something like that.

    Let me ask you guys, would it kill you to tell me WHAT DIRECTORY you’re talking about? With a couple lines of code you could check the for existence of the directory and see if it’s permissions are set correctly instead of just crashing with an amateurish “Upgrade failed.” and giving us no clue about how we’re supposed to fix it.

    Instead of talking about new features, fix this first!

    Do make your own topic unless you are using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme and configurations as the original poster (I know it’s weird, but it will be easier for us to help YOU that way)
