Download to Excel not working after WP upgrade to 4.0

    Hi David,

    This morning I upgraded WP from 3.9.1 to 4.0 as advised by the admin page of WP. However, in 4.0 the download to excel (RSVP-Report) isn’t working anymore, where it did work perfectly fine under 3.9.1. The error message I receive is “This page is not available” after hitting the [Receive Spreadsheet]. Of course I have installed the “RSVPMaker_Excel” plugin along with the RSVPMaker, way back. RSVPMaker is on version 3.0.9 and RSVPMaker_Excel on 1.0. This function is crucial for me as we have an upcoming event for which the event team needs all the registrations on a daily basis with the e-mail addresses etc. Could you please have a look at this a.s.a.p.? If you need any specific details, please let me know.

    Hi David,

    I found the issue. It had nothing to do with the WP upgrade to 4.0. In one of the custom fields a registrant had used the equal sign (=). This caused the Excel download to fail. So perhaps you can have a look at that and add some logic that special characters like this are either accepted and the RSVPMaker_Excel can deal with that, or that these special characters (used in Excel as formula’s, ect.) are not accepted to prevent the issue of not being able to download.

    BTW, you’re using a very old version of PHPExcel. Perhaps you can update that and release a new RSVPMaker_Excel plugin?
