Downloadable Product Statistics Resetting

Most of the product I sell includes Downloadable Products. I’ve noticed that when I change an order’s status the download statistics reset to 0. For example, on a recent order a customer downloaded their file 4 times, but after changing their order into another status it now shows their file had been downloaded 0 times.
I’ve noticed the same thing happens to all orders when I have to reboot the server to apply updates. I enforce 5 downloads per order, so this effectively resets those download limits for customers.
I’m running a pretty basic WooCommerce site. I do have the “WooCommerce Order Status Manager” plugin, but this error above also happens when I switch between built-in statuses (like “Processing” and “On Hold”). Has anyone else seen this? Could there be a misconfiguration on my end or is this more likely a bug in the WooCommerce system?
