DownloadCounter as a plugin

    Dear all,

    I wonder if it would be possible to provide the current number of wordpress downloads (see https://www.ads-software.com/download/counter/ ) as a plugin or some other kind of data, which can be used to display it on wordpress blogs

    something like this could be the result:
    [this funky blog is powered by wordpress]
    wordpress has been downloaded xxx times

    To do this, they’d have to put a text file containing the number of downloads in a public directory on www.ads-software.com. This text file would have to be updated with every download.

    The plugin itself would be very easy to write.

    I wonder if Matt’d agree to the text file.
